Our Mission

URBAN WASH Dance Company is dedicated to the exploration of human interaction married to social and political consciousness. We believe that every life experience contributes to how the body speaks and through movement, gesture and idiosyncrasies become language. Our goal is to present the symbiotic relationship between visually stimulating work through the use of multimedia and multidisciplinary sources.
URBAN WASH has performed throughout NYC, including Spiegel Tent, International Dance Festival at Dicapo Opera Theater, Monkey Town, Dance New Amsterdam, Dancer Responding to AIDS remember project at St, Mark’s Church, University Settlement, LaGuardia Community College, Williamsburg Art Nexus, The Hatch, Puffin Room, Joyce Soho (as guest artist for TARO), Merce Cunningham Studios, The Secret Theatre, and The Tank as part of ReVision by Forward Motion Theater. We have also performed at Hudson Opera House in Upstate NY, and various venues throughout North Carolina including SECCA, UNC Greensboro, Carolina Theater, in D.C., Northwestern University in Louisiana, and in Philadelphia, PA as part of the Studio Series at Studio 34 Yoga Healing Arts. Choreography has been featured on several dance and theater companies, such as 2BTribe, Sidelong Dance, Informall Theater Company, Mariana Beckerman Dance Company, the AWEAR Project, and recording artist J5-Live at CBGBs and The Bitter End.
URBAN WASH is a multidisciplinary ensemble made up of dancers, video artists, musicians, and costume. Each element is an integral component.
The choreography is described as:
Choreographed and performed “Lucid Dreaming…Black Monday” with stunning delicacy. Giving (Taro) a sense of serenity and grounding. It strives for what Kennedy so effectively accomplishes…
